The Staycation with the Emphasis on ‘Stay’!

We hear time and time again from guests that they end up cancelling reservations or plans when staying here at our log cabins or the Sheepyard Barn because…they simply don’t want to leave the peaceful setting of their lodge or the large barn!

We’ve worked hard to create an environment that encourages you to stop, relax and unwind the moment you arrive for your holiday.

Peaceful outdoor space in nature

On arrival at the lakeside log cabins, many guests open the double doors from any of the rooms and head straight out onto the decking that overlooks the tranquil lake. The outdoor space provides a peaceful place to dine on the decking, read a book on the outdoor sofas or star gaze from the hot tub. The barn welcomes you with a large open space surrounded by nothing but fields. The outdoor lounge offers a place to relax in or enjoying pre-dinner drinks or afternoon tea. To really escape, the hammocks swaying in the trees away from the main building is an idyllic spot. For those staying with a young family at the barn, there is much to safely explore outside, a sunken trampoline and plenty of space to run around.

Wildlife in abundance

We are fortunate to have a rich and diverse range of wildlife on our doorstep. We have developed a Biodiversity Enhancement Strategy with an ecologist to help us enhance habitats for wildlife. This means we often see deer, badgers, hares, birds, amphibians and much more. We have a family of roe deer who can often be seen wandering the fields while enjoying an evening outside in the outdoor lounge at the barn or strolling the footpaths. Guests have sent us pictures of Kingfishers sitting on the decking and we often hear of guests losing hours while watching the activity of life on the lake!  Whether enjoying all of this at your accommodation or while walking along the many footpaths direct from the farm, you’ll find yourself lost in nature!

Luxurious and comfortable interior

There are views of the lake from the sofa and the bedrooms inside the cabins which gives guests the opportunity to curl up on the sofa with a good read or enjoy breakfast in bed and still enjoy the calmness of the lake and cabin site. The barn features floor to ceiling windows around the open plan living area with stunning views of the rolling landscape.

Both the large barn and the lodges are finished to a high specification and are fully equipped with, hopefully, everything you could need. Many like using the bespoke, modern kitchens – or the wood fired pizza oven if staying in the barn – and enjoy the social aspect of the layout and design making preparing food a pleasure.

The Scandinavian-inspired log cabins have a warming log burner during the cooler months which is hard to tear yourself away from. Whilst the home cinema system, indoor swimming pool or separate games room at the barn offers the space and facilities to keep the whole family entertained.
