Health Benefits

Engaging in physical activity outdoors in nature offers a whole range of health benefits, both physically and mentally. Not only is the Sheepyard Barn set in a remote spot on our 300 acre farm, surrounded by nothing but fields, but it has the space outdoors to accommodate your activity needs. Even if the weather wasn’t favourable, the internal space of the barn with its open plan living design means you can still take part in your favourite activities, whilst benefitting from stunning views of the countryside and floor to ceiling glass windows with huge sliding doors, letting the sounds of nature and fresh air into the airy Sheepyard Barn.

The Sheepyard Barn also offers guests the ‘Sheep Dip’ – it’s own private, heated swimming pool complete with a Fast Lane Current Counter to enjoy continuous swimming at a resistance to suit your fitness goals.

Wellbeing Retreat

We understand how important it is to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle, and appreciate many of our guests would like to continue with their exercise routines while away from home. We even have guests who book a stay at the Sheepyard Barn as a health or fitness retreat – to spend quality time dedicated to reconnecting and rejuvenating – whether with a group of friends and loved ones or as part of an organised retreat with specialist health practitioners.

We’ve been delighted to welcome groups here for a number of different health and wellbeing stays from yoga and meditation to boot camp and running. Whatever your passion is or whatever form of movement works best for you, our Sheepyard Barn will offer you the space, setting and scenery to make your stay unique and aligned with your health and wellbeing desires.

Helping You Help Yourself

To help maintain your fitness and wellbeing while enjoying a wonderfully relaxing holiday here at The Suffolk Escape, we have put together a few pieces of equipment that we hope you’ll be able to use and benefit from.

  • Yoga / pilates mats
  • Resistance / strength bands (of varying resistance)
  • TRX suspension trainer
  • Foam rollers

These are available free of charge to those staying at the Sheepyard Barn and can be booked ahead of your stay either at the time of booking or by emailing us at before you’re due to arrive.

We can also help with off-road running routes around our farm tracks or quiet, countryside routes if you prefer road running. If being on two wheels is more your thing, we can share local Suffolk cycling routes with you and help you get further afield in this beautiful county.
