Is The Suffolk Escape on a working farm?
Yes, The Suffolk Escape is situated on our working arable and livestock farm. The Sheepyard Barn is set 3/4 mile down a farm track, right in the heart of the farm. The livestock include Suffolk sheep, Large Black pigs (at times of the year) and free range chickens. The farm is managed in such as a way as to encourage wildlife including Roe Deer, owls and other bird life.
Is there a pub we can walk to?
There is a pub and restaurant in Hintlesham (30 minute walk). The most popular drinking and eating establishment near to us is Hintlesham Golf Club, which is a pleasant 30+ minute walk away along peaceful farm tracks. The club house has a large deck area with stunning views of the rolling countryside. We have a circular walk around the farm which passes the Golf Club half way around. You will find turn by turn bespoke maps in the barn for you to take with you.
Do I have to clean the barn for the next visitors arriving?
Although our barn is thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive, we would ask that you leave the property clean and tidy. Alternatively you can book an additional cleaning service which will get this done on your behalf but you must let us know in advance so we can book additional staff in.
Is car parking provided?
Yes, there is a large car parking spaces right next to the barn with parking for 6+cars. If you have more than this let us know and we can arrange additional parking for you.
What else do you provide in the Sheepyard Barn?
The barn contains some cleaning detergents, washing up liquid and other products, as well as kitchen roll and toilet paper. We provide a small starter set of coffees, teas and milk, so you can have a drink when you arrive. Also, salt and pepper are provided. We also include some hand soap and cleaning products.
Do you accept pets at the Sheepyard Barn?
Sadly, we do not to accept dogs or other pets in the Sheepyard Barn or log cabins.
Does the Sheepyard Barn have a hot tub?
Yes the barn has its own, private hot tub situated on the private patio at the back of the barn overlooking the valley and patchwork of fields. Hot tubs are available for use all year round and heated by our biomass boiler. The hot tubs are not suitable for children.
Can we use the indoor swimming pool and is it heated all year?
The Sheepyard Barn’s swimming pool is just for guests staying at the barn not log cabin guests as it is set right in the heart of the Sheepyard Barn building with the door opening into the lounge. The pool is open all year and heated all year. It includes a counter-current swim machine which is useful for those wishing to do some serious swim training.
Do you provide towels and bed linen.
All towels, linen & bath robes are provided and included in the cost of your escape. If you stay more than a week, we provide new ones half way through.
Do you have internet access?
There is basic wifi available in the Sheepyard Barn. Please be aware we are right out in the countryside and right at the end of the lines many miles for the nearest exchange so we do not have the fastest connection speeds. It sufficient for surfing, checking emails, etc and if the demand on the line is low you maybe able to stream music but please do not expect to be able to stream TV/movies.
Can we use the wood fired pizza oven?
The barn has a fantastic wood fired pizza oven which makes the most amazing crispy based pizzas in less than 2minutes which you are barn guests are welcome to use. We ask you advise us in advance and you must book our pizza oven package. This supplies you with all the measured out ingredients to make your own amazing dough, the special dry wood for the oven, step by step instructions (including a video), all the equipment for making and cooking your pizzas and we also then clean out the oven for you after your stay.
Does the Sheepyard Barn have a BBQ?
The barn has a Weber kettle barbecue available from late April to October (weather dependent). You will need to supply your own fuel and firelighters. We provide a useful video with some tips on getting the best out of a charcoal kettle bbq including how to quickly and reliably light it, indirect grill to avoid any burnt or raw food and how to clean it after use. Our BBQ needs to be left cleaned after use or cleaning charges will be passed on.
How long can we escape for?
Arrival and departure days are Mondays and Fridays. We offer week escapes in peak times as well as short breaks of 3 or 4 nights in off peak times. We are open all year around. Combinations include:
- Week/Fortnight escapes: Monday to Monday or Friday to Friday (peak times Friday-Friday only)
- Short Break escapes: Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday
What time can we arrive/depart?
Arrival time is 4.00pm onwards and departure is by 09:30am to enable us to prepare the barn to the high standards you, our guests, expect. If you are arriving late we can make arrangements to leave a key securely for you to arrive at your leisure and we will come and meet you the following morning at a more sociable hour. We have created a welcome video which is loaded onto our TV so you can find out everything you need to know so you can get settled in quickly if you are arriving late.
Can I place a booking for a group or book the whole site?
We welcome group bookings and exclusive use of the site including the log cabins is easily arranged. Contact us before booking so we can discuss your requirements and make use of Andrew’s ten years events experience to create a special bespoke escape.
Can I change the date of my booking?
We will do what we can to help you, subject to availability, up to 8 weeks prior to the date of your arrival but please advise us as early as possible. However, please ensure you have read our Terms and Conditions before booking.
What happens if I have to cancel my holiday?
We recommend that you take out holiday insurance against cancellation. Should you need to cancel your holiday, full details regarding our cancellation policy can be found in our terms and conditions.
