Guest Review: “A touch of affordable luxury”

My fifteen-year-old son and I have just returned from a fantastic midweek break at The Suffolk Escape, and we both absolutely loved every single minute of our stay.

Friends of mine had stayed in the Southwold Lodge at The Suffolk Escape at the beginning of July and raved about the great time they had spent there. Now you don’t need much persuasion after a personal recommendation from friends, so a quick call and email to Andrew and we’d secured our own Monday to Friday stay in the Southwold Lodge.

The setting of the four brand new wooden lodges around a recently excavated lake, is idyllic and picturesque. Clever landscaping means that each lodge is tucked away and enjoys a certain amount of seclusion.. and this will only become more apparent in the coming months as the surroundings mature. If the outdoor scenery takes your breath away, just wait until you get inside your home!

The interior of the lodge is beautifully decorated and furnished to the very highest standard. A stunning kitchen, dining and lounge area makes up the body of the lodge, and to either side is a double bedroom with en-suite. No detail has been over-looked in making sure that every conceivable thing you require for your stay is either in the lodge, or can accessed locally, or provided by Andrew and Sarah.

Little touches like the personalised welcome note, the fresh pastries and cakes in the fridge, or even the sound of the hot tub warming up for an evening dip, makes you feel very special and privileged. In fact my son commented on the first evening that he “felt rich”, just like he was enjoying the sort of luxuries that a rich person might.

Here’s the thing though. A little bit of luxury at The Suffolk Escape doesn’t cost you the earth. You can do as much or as little as you want, but either way you’ll very quickly feel like you’re in your home from home. A relaxing holiday really doesn’t get any better than that.
