The Government “Rule of Six” Social Distancing Update – 9th September 2020
In response to the latest Government announcement regarding the maximum number of guests that are allowed to socialise together from Monday 14th September 2020 (“Rule of Six”), we have put together some information to help you through this challenging new law and provide some guidance.
For clarification on the new legislation, please refer to the latest Government information.
We’re so disappointed that you may have to make some alterations to your plans for your holiday with us. We want nothing more than for guests to be able to have their holiday as we know how important these escapes are and the special memories they create. Whilst we appreciate the next few weeks could be difficult with group conversations about the best next steps, please remember the Sheepyard Barn is still open and available so we really hope you’ll still want to come but with a few tweaks to your group. We’re also having to go through this with our own holiday in October so do understand how disappointing it is.
As it currently stands, we can offer the following options that will help you adhere to the new ‘Rule of Six’ law from 14th September 2020:
1. Reduce your numbers to fall in line with the new laws.
In order to help you with this we could offer you a 20% reduction as we may make some savings with the reduced numbers – although they are significantly less than the 20% discount – but as per our ethos throughout this whole pandemic we will do our best to help where we can.
2. Share your holiday amongst your group.
You may wish to consider some of you staying for the first half/certain number of nights and then the others staying for the remainder. Obviously this isn’t an ideal solution for you but we thought it might be an option that allows all of the group to get a break and get to enjoy the barn. As we appreciate this may not be ideal, to help, we could offer you a 10% reduction on the rate you have already paid.
3. Transfer your booking to an alternative date next year.
This solution would need to be based upon us being able to resell your current holiday dates for you. We would then transfer the funds you’ve already paid to your new holiday dates less any discounts we’ve had to offer in order to resell your current holiday dates for you. Should we have to discount your holiday dates in order to resell them for you, we’ll cover 50% of the difference in rates to further minimise the impact on you. Please note, next year is booking up quickly so you would need to check availability to see if there are any remaining dates that may work for you. To help, we’ll extend the window to transfer your booking to 18 months from your original holiday dates.
4. Wait to see if the restrictions are eased.
Please do bear in mind that if you then have to cancel closer to the time, whilst we’ll still be happy to transfer your booking to another date as per the above #3, the chances are we’ll have to offer a greater discount in order to resell your dates.
5. Fully cancel your booking.
You are welcome to cancel your booking under our standard terms and conditions. Obviously, we really hope you don’t want to cancel and we’d love you to still stay with us but should that be the only option for you, please see our standard cancellation terms below:
For cancellations made 6-8 week prior to the arrival date, 50% of the total rental fee will be payable.
For cancellations made 4-6 weeks prior to the arrival date, 70% of the total rental fee will be payable.
For cancellations made less than 4 weeks prior to the arrival date 100% of the total rental fee will be payable.
Please see our Terms and Conditions.
We’re currently contacting all guests that this new law impacts and most are reducing their numbers where required as we’re still open and the booking is for the property rather than a per person basis. This pandemic has caused all sorts of challenges for people and we are pleased that at least some of their group are still able to come and enjoy their holiday. We’re well aware how much people are needing a break in these challenging times.
Please do have a chat with your group and let us know what you’d like to do. We’re happy to chat it through over the phone (07957 461011) if that helps too. Or you can email us (escape@suffolkescape.co.uk) with any questions or thoughts. Please be assured we want to help and will do our very best for you. Through these uncertain and unsettling times, we strive to make your experience with us as smooth and stress-free as it can be. Should things change in terms of what support we can offer, we will be in contact with you.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Andrew, Sarah, Jess and the team.
