Wildlife

suffolk escape owl holiday

Our farm is part of an Environmental Stewardship Scheme and we manage it to preserve the traditional look of the countryside and to encourage wildlife. We have also developed a Biodiversity Enhancement Strategy with an ecologist to help us enhance habitats for wildlife including deer, badgers, hares, birds, amphibians and much more.

We have placed nest boxes in the trees around the farm to attract great tits, blue tits and robins. We have also built bat boxes to encourage their numbers on the farm. Binoculars are available for our guests to borrow whilst heading out for a walk or we can recommend the best places to sit and catch the wildlife in action on the farm. If you need a bit of guidance there are useful reference books in the cabins.

Here at The Suffolk Escape we regularly see Roe and Muntjac Deer, Pheasants, Grey Squirrels, Barn and Small Owls, Buzzards (family of three), Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Jays, Swallows, Bats, Foxes, Badgers and much more.

We are very lucky to have an excellent RSPB reserve at Wolves Woodjust a mile away, with plenty of opportunity for walks and wildlife spotting.

We welcome you to explore our farm, there may be cattle or sheep grazing the pastures, hunt for sloes, wild damsons or hazelnuts in the hedgerows, harvest blackberries and enjoy the abundance of wildlife.
