Places to Visit with Children

Our Sheepyard Barn welcomes children of all ages and we love nothing more than seeing families enjoy the open space together and all that the barn has to offer.

The indoor pool with its swimming machine is definitely a highlight and hours can be spent splashing about in there. Outdoors, children can enjoy a safe, open space with nothing but fields and tracks around them. Lots of areas to explore, insects and bugs to watch and wildlife to spot. The sunken trampoline and swing amongst the trees are great fun and the large grassed area offers space for games and running about!

For those wishing to explore beyond our farm, we have a number of excellent venues for children and many only a short drive away. Some of our favourite locals include:

Hollow Trees Farm

Only a 10-12minute drive from the barn, Hollow Trees Farm has lots to offer on their farm trail (as well as a nice cafe and farm shop for post trail fun!) from animal feeding, tractor riding, climbing and swing area, giant sand pit, welly throwing and so much more.

Jimmy’s Farm

Just eight miles away is Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park. With over 80 different species and breeds, plus a ‘tropical house’ with some cold blooded friends and a butterfly house, all animal enthusiasts will love a visit here. There are also woods for den building, a giant sandpit, bouncy pillow and lovely walks.

The Suffolk Food Hall

A lovely spot for beautiful views across the River Orwell while the children can play on the bouncy pillow and climbing equipment. It has a large open space for ball games, often with cattle grazing nearby quietly watching the fun! There is a cafe and large farm shop for a cup of tea and cake while the children play. Only 9 miles away.

Baylam House Rare Breeds Farm

Further into the countryside, there is Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm just a 20minute drive away. A working livestock farm that specialises in native breeds that are now very rare. Enjoy getting close to the many different animals, feed them and even tickle a piglet tummy! There are play areas, a river walk and spots for picnics.

These are just a handful of our favourites but there is so much more on offer and nearby. There are the beaches on the Suffolk coast, woodland walks and river fun. For rainy days there are cinemas, karting, climbing, bowling and bouncing! Check out Visit Suffolk for more ideas and information for the whole of Suffolk.

However, you choose to spend your time while here, we are sure you will have a great time and make some wonderful memories.
